Welcome!
We are a Secret Society inspired by a love of the macabre, founded in 1965 in Chicago by Green Skull (then age 7). Starting as a kid’s club, the Skull Club has mushroomed into a masked multitude. Our initiation rituals aren’t for everyone. Oddly they upset a coked-up woman who tried to destroy our official Secret Book of the Skull Club. Despite that, we welcome all who want to join. No dues required, just occasional artwork, dancing and general carousing.
We can’t help loving The Skull. We smile back at its lacy grin and gather to celebrate while we can. In the words of Jim Morrison, “The future’s uncertain and the end is always near.”
As Halloween now eclipses Christmas and New Years as the favorite adult holiday, we vibe with it year-round. We create our new identities, wear fantasy wigs and disguises- even at work, when we can get away with it, maybe for recruitment?
The Skull Club continues after 60 years. We are a fun-loving bunch of young and old whose backgrounds diverge wildly: high and low, well-off and broke, professionals, anarchists, poets, artists, winos, inlaws and outlaws. Everyone here has a Skull Club Secret Name; we’re all equal.
